Zcash (ZEC) v6.2.0 Update
The Zcash team has officially started the deprecation process of zcashd in 2025. All full nodes are being transitioned to zebrad, and a new wallet, Zallet, is being developed as a replacement for the zcashd wallet interface.
While many JSON-RPC methods will be supported in zebrad or Zallet as drop-in replacements, others may require changes, and some will not be available at all. If you use zcashd for mining or other integrations, please review the JSON-RPC compatibility spreadsheet and provide your feedback to help improve migration support.
Platform Note: Support for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS has been dropped. It will reach its end of support in May 2025 and no longer meets Tier 2 policy requirements due to GitHub runner limitations.

KASPA (KAS) v1.0.0 — Crescendo Hardfork
The long-awaited Crescendo Hardfork is here! Kaspa has released rusty-kaspa v1.0.0, introducing major performance upgrades and an increase in block production speed from 1 block per second (BPS) to 10 BPS. The upgrade was activated on May 5, 2025, at approximately 15:00 UTC at DAA Score 110,165,000.
Key Features:
- 10 BPS Activation: 10x increase in block rate improves transaction throughput and responsiveness.
- New P2P Protocol v7: Required to maintain peer connectivity. Nodes will disconnect from peers using the older protocol 24 hours before activation.
- Retention Configuration: Use –retention-period-days to control how much historical data to keep. Default is approx. 30 hours (previously ~50 hours).
- Enhanced Node Efficiency: Better control over data storage and pruning due to higher block generation rate.
For full details, consult the Crescendo Upgrade Guide.
KASPA (KAS) Block Reward Reduction
As per the KASPA Tokenomics and emission schedule, a new block reward reduction has occurred:
- Previous Block Reward: 61.74 KAS
- New Block Reward: 58.27 KAS
