We updated our Bitcoin, Quai, Zcash, and Ergo nodes to the latest releases \u2014 including a critical Zcash security hotfix and the Quai BIP-302 fork \u2014 and two coins went through planned block reward reductions: Kaspa and Nexa.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/may-2026-work-progress-report-2miners.jpg\" alt=\"2Miners miner and his dog walking in a blooming May park while his rig mines Bitcoin at home\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5252\" data-wp-pid=\"5252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/may-2026-work-progress-report-2miners.jpg 700w, https:\/\/2miners.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/may-2026-work-progress-report-2miners-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoin Core 31.0: SOLO Pool Node Updated<\/h2>\n<p>We upgraded the node behind our <a href=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/solo-btc-mining-pool\">BTC SOLO mining pool<\/a> to <strong>Bitcoin Core 31.0<\/strong>, the latest major release. Block templates are now built on the new cluster-based mempool, and the release continues the migration of the mining interface to the multiprocess IPC architecture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What changed:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cluster mempool.<\/strong> Transaction ordering was rebuilt around clusters, improving how block templates are assembled and how fee-bumping (RBF and CPFP) is evaluated.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mining interface (IPC).<\/strong> Block-template creation moved further toward the separate mining interface; coinbase data is now returned in structured form.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Node performance.<\/strong> The default database cache was raised to <strong>1024 MiB<\/strong> on machines with 4 GB+ of RAM, and the fee-estimation floor was lowered to <strong>0.1 sat\/vB<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nothing changes for you as a SOLO miner \u2014 we run and maintain the node. Point your SHA-256 hardware at <strong>solo-btc.2miners.com:2626<\/strong> with your Bitcoin address as the worker name. If your rig finds a block, the full reward (<strong>3.125 BTC<\/strong> plus fees) is yours.<\/p>\n<h2>Quai (QUAI) Node Update: go-quai v0.53.0 (BIP-302 Fork)<\/h2>\n<p>Quai activated the <strong>BIP-302<\/strong> consensus fork with <strong>go-quai v0.53.0<\/strong> on <strong>May 15, 2026<\/strong>. We updated our Quai nodes ahead of activation, so the <a href=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/quaikawpow-mining-pool\">QuaiKawPow<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/quaisha-mining-pool\">QuaiSHA<\/a> pools stayed in sync through the fork.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key changes for miners:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reward recalculation.<\/strong> The fork renormalizes Quai&#8217;s block reward against SHA-equivalent difficulty; KawPoW difficulty is now expressed in SHA terms.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Short conversion freeze.<\/strong> A brief hold interval applied around the fork&#8217;s activation window.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stability fixes.<\/strong> Added a recovery step when Prime\/Region\/Zone headers are out of sync on restart.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mining is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/quaikawpow-mining-pool\">QuaiKawPow<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/quaisha-mining-pool\">QuaiSHA<\/a> pools, with SOLO options for both.<\/p>\n<h2>Zcash (ZEC) Node Update: Version 6.12.3 \u2014 Security Hotfix<\/h2>\n<p>Zcash released <strong>v6.12.3<\/strong>, a security hotfix that we applied to our <a href=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/zec-mining-pool\">ZEC pool<\/a> node immediately.<\/p>\n<p>The release fixes <strong>CVE-2024-52911<\/strong>, a critical use-after-free vulnerability in block validation. Any inbound peer could trigger it by sending a crafted invalid block, crashing the node during script verification \u2014 and bouncing invalid blocks between peers could amplify a single crash into a network-wide outage. Every multi-core node running the default settings was affected on v6.12.2 and earlier.<\/p>\n<p>If you run your own Zcash node, upgrade to <strong>6.12.3<\/strong> without delay. Our pool node is already patched.<\/p>\n<h2>Ergo (ERG) Node Update: Version 6.0.3-RC1<\/h2>\n<p>Ergo published <strong>6.0.3-RC1<\/strong>, a release candidate focused on block propagation and mempool handling. We are testing it against our <a href=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/erg-mining-pool\">ERG pool<\/a> node.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notable changes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Faster block announcement.<\/strong> A new block is now announced to peers immediately, before full validation \u2014 this reduces propagation delay and helps lower stale\/orphan rates for miners.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mempool improvements.<\/strong> Better handling of fee-based transaction replacement and a fix for duplicate transaction IDs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a release candidate, 6.0.3-RC1 is a pre-release; we will move our pool to the stable build once it ships.<\/p>\n<h2>Kaspa (KAS) Block Reward Reduction<\/h2>\n<p>As defined by the <a href=\"https:\/\/kaspa.org\/tokenomics\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kaspa Tokenomics<\/a> and its smooth monthly emission schedule, Kaspa underwent another scheduled block reward reduction in May.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Previous Reward:<\/strong> 2.914 KAS<\/li>\n<li><strong>New Reward:<\/strong> 2.75 KAS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please pay attention!<\/strong> Kaspa mining profitability has changed. We have already updated <a href=\"https:\/\/2cryptocalc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">2CryptoCalc<\/a> to reflect the new reward values. Mining is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/kas-mining-pool\">KAS pool<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/2miners.com\/solo-kas-mining-pool\">KAS SOLO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Nexa (NEXA) Block Reward Reduction<\/h2>\n<p>In line with the Nexa tokenomics, the Nexa block reward was halved in May.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Previous Reward:<\/strong> 10,000,000 NEXA<\/li>\n<li><strong>New Reward:<\/strong> 5,000,000 NEXA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please pay attention!<\/strong> Nexa mining rewards per block have been cut in half. We have updated <a href=\"https:\/\/2cryptocalc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">2CryptoCalc<\/a> accordingly.
